I took a leap. A big one. After almost a decade I decided to leave bransoncompany, the company I helped build from scratch.
Below is an e-mail I sent to a few hundred of people in my network. It’s not a perfect e-mail, yet it took me four weeks to write. I hesitated. Doubted the words. Feared I might send it to people who wouldn’t be interested in me anyway.
Had a friend not nudged me in the right direction, I probably would still be trying to find the right words. It probably still is far from being the perfect letter. I finally pressed send a few days ago.
My inbox exploded.
Lots of well wishes and friendly ‘thank-you-for-letting-us-know’ notes, but also dozens of people who wanted to get in touch; share their ideas about their business, their brand, their ambitions for the future. Some of them from people I nearly forgot I knew.
Wow. The number of great reactions and proposals I got. Unbelievable. I’m still in the process of sorting and answering them.
Lesson learned from Guy Kawasaki: ship.
Sometimes you just have to press send.
The future is ahead of us. Here’s to the future!
I’m taking the leap! After nine years at Bransoncompany I am starting a new agency with long time business partner Frank Roos. Together we’ll be founding: Roos & van de Werk.
Roos & van de Werk creates great brands and makes great brands stand out. True to their core and proudly radiating their ambition. We help brands stake out their market space and capture the hearts and minds of their target audience. Sometimes subtly, often audaciously, but always aiming for maximum results.
It’s what we love doing. It’s what we do best. And most of all, it’s what delights our clients.
Needless to say I’m very excited about this step. However, I’m much more interested in your plans!
- Do you have a brand in need of a serious upgrade?
- Does your business need a creative boost?
- Are you about to launch a new product or service?
- Are you venturing into new markets or redefining existing ones?
- Or perhaps you have a different ambition?
Let’s get in touch. Roos & van de Werk is open for business!
